HARMONY YOUTH PROJECT

Harmony Youth Project is a registered charity (No.1129290), established in May 2001, providing activities, training and facilities ranging from IT, graphics, arts, music and issue based film making, to disadvantaged young people from Bolton and the Greater Manchester area. The aims of Harmony Youth Project are to “Provide equal opportunities and benefits to young  people aged 8 and 25.

We work with Local Authorities, Charities, Voluntary groups, Community Voluntary Services, Job Centre Plus, pupil referral units, schools and other organisations in a common effort to advance educate and to provide a safe environment for young people to advance grow and interact with other young people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures in a positive manor.

Harmony Youth Project operates in Halliwell one of the top 2% most deprived area in the Country-(Source: Bolton Development and Regeneration Department-Feb 2011) area of Bolton Greater Manchester.

Our research and consultation shows young people face multiple issues of deprivation and often classified as NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training), they have a little or nothing to do during the weekends or out of terms time and lack opportunities to find suitable employment. Harmony Youth Project provides opportunities, training and other activities to young people to try to provide a solution to these problems.

Our projects, goals and efforts have been acknowledged and recognised by the local authorities, schools, police and youth offending team, the positive feedback from these agencies show the impact these activities have on young people to address negative, abusive or criminal behaviour

Bolton is a significantly depressed area and to reach all our young people it aims to create satellite centres throughout the Borough eg Great Lever, Little Lever, Farnworth, Breightmet etc. Our  Media Centre in Halliwell will remain the Hub and Gateway to these exciting new developments.

Harmony will strive to maintain its cutting edge approach to providing and delivering a service which is totally relevant to the needs of the youth in today's difficult economic and social climate, targeting youth unemployment  failure to succeed in education substances and alcohol miss use, negative stereo typing, bullying, hate crime/antisocial behaviour etc.

The evening will consist  of Newtorking, Live enetertainment , a raffle and a buffet and will run from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday 21st June.
